Apple recently released the final version of iOS 16.5 (build 20F66) for iPhone and iPadOS 16.5 for iPad. This release comes after several betas and two release candidates.
Apple's notes describe the following new features for iOS 16.5:
- New Celebration Pride wallpaper for the lock screen, in honor of the LGBTQ+ community and culture.
- Fixed an issue that could cause Spotlight to be unresponsive.
- Fixed an issue that could prevent podcast content from loading in CarPlay.
- Fixed an issue with resetting or syncing Screen Time settings on all devices.
Although not mentioned in the French changelog, iOS 16.5 also includes the addition of a Sport tab in the Apple News app and the ability to record screen videos with Siri . However, these features are not available in French.
To download iOS 16.5 , you can go to Settings > General > Software Update on your device. You can then start the download and proceed with its installation. It is also possible to download the firmware from the dedicated Apple page, then install it via the Finder (on Mac) or iTunes (on Windows).
The next release to come will be iOS 16.6, the first beta of which is expected to arrive shortly. Then will come the major update , namely iOS 17. The presentation of the latter is scheduled for June 5, but the final version will not be available until September.
